My entire creative process from start to finish is obsessed by the detail. All of my paintings come from my own reference photos, and each photoshoot is meticulously planned so I capture the essence of my creative ideas. Photoshoots tend to take place over an entire day (sometimes more), and the preplanning before the shoot can be anything from days to weeks of planning. Once I have all my photos, I can take several days carefully reviewing the images to choose the right ones, and crop to create the perfect ratio and composition for the final painting. So before any painting starts, there's usually several weeks of preparatory work before the paper even goes up on my studio wall.
When I start painting it's critical for me to capture as much intricate detail as possible in order to convey a lifelike presence so that they can be appreciated both from afar and very close up. This is why my paintings can take anywhere from between 100 to 280 hours. Below are some closeups of some of my paintings so you can appreciate the details a bit better.
